Since the appointment of Hon. Samuel Olawale Kappo (SOK) as Senior Special Assistant to the Lagos State Governor on Student Union Affairs and Tertiary Education, student union engagement in Lagos State has taken a distinctly progressive and inclusive turn. A vibrant young political office holder from the Badagry Division, SOK has introduced an open-door leadership approach that prioritises dialogue, accessibility, and constructive partnership with student stakeholders across tertiary institutions.
Under his watch, student union affairs have benefited from improved communication, clearer channels of engagement, and a renewed emphasis on responsible leadership and advocacy. His style of leadership reflects a deep understanding of youth dynamics and the critical role of students in shaping future governance and policy direction in Lagos State.
This inclusive approach was recently reflected in a courtesy visit by Tope Olugbemi, popularly known as Celebrity Surveyor, an aspirant for the position of NANS Zone D Public Relations Officer, who visited SOK alongside members of his team. The engagement, though brief, underscored SOK’s commitment to mentorship, guidance, and constructive interaction with emerging student leaders.
Lagos Mirror observes that this evolving culture of openness and progress under SOK has strengthened confidence among student leaders. The magazine remains optimistic that his leadership capacity and results-driven approach will deliver even greater impact if entrusted with higher responsibilities.
