Lagos Mirror Magazine:
The Lagos State Government has unveiled an extensive traffic diversion framework to ease vehicular movement along the Lagos–Badagry Expressway as rehabilitation works commence on the Mazamaza Bridge.
The planned intervention, aimed at averting traffic bottlenecks, will run for 18 weeks and cover critical repair works, including the replacement of expansion joints and other key structural elements of the bridge.
In a statement issued on Friday, the Commissioner for Transportation, Mr. Oluwaseun Osiyemi, announced that the rehabilitation exercise will begin on Monday, January 19, 2026, and is scheduled for completion on Thursday, May 28, 2026.
He clarified that the bridge will remain accessible throughout the construction period, with traffic regulated through phased diversions across the Toll Lane, BRT corridor, and Service Lane on both inbound and outbound routes.
Osiyemi emphasized that the traffic plan prioritizes safety and smooth flow, urging motorists to comply with traffic directives and plan movements accordingly. He appealed for public patience, stressing that the project is vital to improving the bridge’s durability and overall road safety.
Lagos Mirror Magazine reports that traffic management agencies will be fully deployed to ensure orderliness and effective traffic control during the rehabilitation period.
