Lagos Mirror Magazine:
The Lagos State Government has formally signed the 2026 Budget of Shared Prosperity into law, marking a major step toward inclusive growth and sustainable development across the state. The ₦4.444 trillion appropriation bill, duly passed by the Lagos State House of Assembly, is now set for full implementation.
The administration described the budget as a strategic framework designed to strengthen governance, enhance service delivery, and keep Lagos competitive in a rapidly changing economic environment. Central to the budget is inclusion, with a clear commitment that residents across all communities, regardless of occupation or location, should experience tangible benefits.
Key investment priorities include education, healthcare infrastructure, security enhancement, and targeted interventions aimed at improving the overall quality of life for Lagosians. The government emphasized that recent events, such as the Balogun Market fire and ongoing interventions along the Ebute Metta coastline, underscore the urgency of sustained infrastructure renewal and responsive public services.
Looking ahead to 2026, the budget places strong emphasis on infrastructure renewal, transport expansion, agricultural support, MSME growth, job creation, and broad-based economic development. The government reaffirmed its pledge to prudent spending, accountability, and value for money, noting that Lagosians deserve effective leadership and measurable progress in return for public trust.
