Earlier this week, Olaiya confirmed that the marriage had broken down, stating that Nafisat left their home and that efforts to reconcile had been unsuccessful. Responding in a video shared on social media, Nafisat rejected the narrative surrounding the separation. She alleged that she ended the marriage after discovering that Olaiya was involved in a relationship with her best friend, who also served as her chief bridesmaid during their wedding. According to her, the alleged affair came after a period of mistreatment and emotional pain within the marriage. The allegations have generated widespread reactions on social media.
