Lagos State has been thrown into mourning following the death of Otunba (Dr.) Adekunle Ojora, a prominent royal figure and highly regarded elder statesman, who passed away at the age of 93.

Otunba Ojora, a prince of Lagos and father of Mrs. Toyin Saraki wife of former Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki was said to have died peacefully in Lagos on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, after a brief illness.

Born in 1932, the late Otunba hailed from the distinguished Ojora and Adele Royal families, two historic houses traditionally eligible for the revered stool of the Oba of Lagos. His demise has been met with widespread tributes, as traditional institutions and Lagos high society reflect on the loss of a rare symbol of heritage and grace.

Widely admired for his calm authority and refined disposition, Otunba Ojora was often described as a living link between Lagos’ ancient aristocratic traditions and its modern leadership class. His influence quietly cut across generations, commanding respect without ostentation.

In addition to his royal lineage, he made remarkable contributions in corporate and social circles, where his wisdom, discretion and mentorship shaped decisions and nurtured leaders over many decades.

He was married to Erelu Ojuolape Ojora, and together they raised a family renowned for service, dignity and excellence. He is survived by his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, all of whom carry forward his enduring legacy.

The passing of Otunba Adekunle Ojora represents more than the end of a long life—it signifies the close of a defining era in Lagos’ royal and social evolution.

He lived with honour, served with purpose and departed with dignity. May his soul rest in perfect peace, and may his legacy continue to inspire generations to come.
