In a major boost to grassroots economic development, no fewer than 1,000 beneficiaries drawn from the 28 Local Governments and LCDAs in Lagos West Senatorial District have been empowered under a large-scale intervention programme of Hon. Senator Idiat Adebule aligned with the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda, Lagos Mirror reports.
The empowerment initiative, which formed the centrepiece of the Annual Stakeholders and Mega Empowerment Programme, targeted beneficiaries who had undergone structured training in various vocational fields including tailoring, catering, barbing, ICT and other practical skills. Participants were provided with relevant tools and starter packs designed to enable them establish sustainable livelihoods and achieve economic independence.
Beyond vocational empowerment, the programme also featured the distribution of mini-buses, cash grants to 100 beneficiaries, mobility support for persons with disabilities, as well as fertilizers and critical farm inputs to boost agricultural productivity among local farmers within the senatorial district.
The event equally served as a platform for the convener to present a detailed scorecard of parliamentary engagements and development projects executed across communities in Lagos West, highlighting ongoing efforts to deliver people-focused representation.
Addressing beneficiaries, the lawmaker urged them to maximize the opportunity provided, noting that the empowerment programme is an annual initiative aimed at reinforcing inclusive growth, job creation and economic resilience in line with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope vision.
The programme attracted the presence of key political leaders and stakeholders, including Senator Olamilekan Adeola (Yayi), who pledged support for the initiative, and Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Barrister ’Bimbola Salu-Hundeyin. Also in attendance were APC Chairman Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi, party officials, GAC leadership, council chairmen, traditional rulers and other dignitaries.
Lagos Mirror reports that the empowerment programme further reaffirmed the commitment to translating public trust into measurable community impact across Lagos West.
