Badagry LG Chairman Commends Partners on Free Medical Outreach

Lagos Mirror Magazine:

The Executive Chairman of Badagry Local Government, Hon. Babatunde Hunpe, has commended the Restore Foundation for Child Sight, Badagry General Hospital, and collaborating non-governmental organisations for delivering a free medical outreach to residents of the community.

The outreach, which focused mainly on children aged 0–17 years, also accommodated a limited number of adults who received dental care. The exercise was conducted at Badagry General Hospital and concluded on Monday, marking the end of the second phase that began earlier in January.

Hon. Hunpe paid a courtesy visit to the medical team, led by Dr. Andar Ferguson, to formally appreciate the sponsors and healthcare professionals for their commitment to improving access to quality healthcare in Badagry. During the visit, he reaffirmed his administration’s readiness to support children identified for further eye surgeries after free screenings, medication, and the provision of eyeglasses.

He described the intervention as a clear demonstration of people-focused governance and stressed that the initiative would have a lasting impact on the well-being of children in the local government area. The council chairman also appealed for sustained partnership, noting Badagry’s historical significance and untapped potential for development.

Hon. Hunpe further praised the Medical Director of Badagry General Hospital, Dr. Adesola Oluseyi, for the positive strides recorded since assuming office, encouraging him to sustain the momentum.

In his remarks, the Nigerian partner of the visiting team, D. Muskinni Salau, acknowledged the support of the hospital management, noting that the high turnout reflected the community’s trust and the success of the programme.

The visit ended with the presentation of cultural artworks, souvenirs, and other goodwill items to the outreach partners in appreciation of their service to the Badagry community.
